EFDA has a vision to “see literate, self reliant and productive community that is capable of solving its economic, social and environmental problems”. This vision is inspired by the idea that today’s children are tomorrows’ citizen on whose shoulders rests the future of the nation. Hence EFDA has a mission to “facilitate, foster and influence a process of ongoing changes in favor of the poor particularly children through community based development initiatives in order to bring about a sustainable development and change in the lives of the people”.

Management Structure
The general assembly assumes the ultimate decision making power in the administrative structure of EFDA while the Board implements and follow-up policies and guidelines set by the general assembly. The Executive Director is responsible for daily organizational activities supported by management committee at the head office. For routine activities in the project areas, Area Mangers play a leading role in team with project officers formed as a committee depending on the number of projects in a given area.

Organizational Values
-Resources are always scarce and should be utilized wisely
-Today's children are tomorrow's citizens on whom the fate of the nation rests
-Education and Information provision are the key to sustainable change
-Had they been given the opportunity communities know better ways to resolve local problems
-Partnership and working maximizes intervention impacts
-Bottom up approach better fits the context of local development over top down approach

Facilities and Physical Resources
EFDA has a well developed training and community resource center in Shambu and Woliso project areas. The resource centers serve as a venue for community skills training, as gallery center where community wisdom are collected and displayed and serve as office space for EFDA projects.
